Champagne Cocktails

All dressed-up in Marios Schwab commingled with Jimmy Choosandals I'm with my girlfriends, Olivia and Shivahn at the  cocktail award winning Ten Lounge Bar at Number 10 Manchester Street Hotel. “Yes, let's order Champagne cocktails” Olivia says and Shivahn inevitably screams making me temporarily deaf. I knew that I would indulge my tongue with a Kir Royalebut twenty minutes later the girls still couldn’t decide what to have. Why is that?

The champagne cocktail list is vast and one might imagine it is hard to select your drink, but it is actually easier than you thought. Ask yourself what role are you playing at the moment; do you want to be a femme fatale? , a European cognoscenti? , the queen of the summer? or just, chic oozing Hollywood glam? As with clothes, cocktails reflect your character and your current emotional state so here are some cocktail choices, plus the required attitudes.

French 75: can be made in a shaker with a lot of ice, 2 parts gin, 1 part fresh lemon juice, melted sugar and of course Champagne. The bubbles will intervene so well with the lemon and the gin, waking up the Charlotte Rampling persona you hide inside you. Don't forget that Smokey eyes complete the look.

Kir Royale: was obviously invented for the sake of old Hollywood glam. With two tablespoons of cassis, Champagne and a twist of lemon peel, this reddish cocktail will suit your red lips. So... Lauren Bacall.

Bellini: requires a peach puree and Champagne. Summery, fruity, ideal to be sipped at the Nammos beach in Mykonos or at summer nights in Saint-Tropez when you feel flawless... like Brigitte Bardot. Mohito… what?

Bucks Fizz is a cocktail that I usually drink in Cannes during the festival. Freshly squeezed top quality orange juice, Champagne and one sugar spoon of Cherry Brandy and there you go. It requires an attitude and those who really know how to make it add a brown sugar cube. I just adore it.
